Some time ago The Orlando Sentinel reported that "Americans give an average of two percent of their income to church and charity -- less than during the Depression."
A standout issue in that article was the rapid rise in recreational spending. The facts stated that "recreational spending now amounts to eleven percent of per capita income." Perhaps it's true that we are intensely interested in what God can give us, and much less worried about what we can give to God.
