St. David's had been a "wilderness church" for years. Founded by a small band of faithful worshippers, the congregation rented space from other groups and cherished the dream of a home of its own. After years of slow growth, the church finally found a way to acquire its own church building. When the day came for the church's dedication, some of the longer-standing members realized that some of their number were not there. They could not understand why their friends had left the church just when the dream had been realized.
