Stephen Carter in The Culture...

Stephen Carter in The Culture of Disbelief explores the ramifications of a culture that was raised not to believe in anything. He describes how this affects our lives. No difficult decisions are made because nothing is seen as worth the struggle or sacrifice. Today, we feel as if any choice we make has merit. Some have even called our time "a spiritual wilderness."
I remember a hard choice we had to make as a family. It was an either/or decision that needed to be made. Our discussion ultimately led us to ask, "Can't we do both?" We have a tendency not to choose by staunchly maintaining that all options are equally valid.
Martyrs, on the other hand, made tough decisions. They decided to sacrifice their earthly lives in order to remain faithful to Christ. What tough choices are we willing to make? What are we willing to give up in order to follow the Lamb of God?
