In their book, titled Reframing Organizations: Artistry, Choice and Leadership, authors Lee Bolman and Terrence Deal identify the "political frame" under which many organizational leaders operate when there are perceived scarce resources. This could be a scarcity of better paying jobs, budget money, or time in production to create products. A wise leader recognizes that in politics, all parties operate under the "law of the jungle," where only the strongest survive. To be naive to this reality makes all of the subordinates fall prey to not-so-benevolent predators.
