There is a trick soap that looks like a real bar of soap, but when you wash with it, you get dirty instead of clean. The more you wash, the dirtier you get. I recall watching an episode of Candid Camera when Allen Funt was the host. He had planted a fake bar of soap in a washroom and recorded the reactions of those who washed their hands with it. It was funny to watch them scrub and scrub and never get clean. It was comical.

The writer of Hebrews says the blood of goats is like that trick bar of soap: it can never cleanse you from sin.
