There's a difference between genuine love and sentimental love. An intervention procedure is often used when a family member gets into trouble with the family or with the law. The trouble may be a drug problem, alcohol problem, infidelity in a marriage, abuse or anything that threatens to tear a family apart. Under the guidance of a psychologist, physician, or pastor acting as a convener, the entire family meets with the offending member. During a sometimes long and painful process, each person assures the erring family member of his or her love.
