There's an old expression that goes: "They are so heavenly minded that they are no earthly good." Years ago in a small community a poor family lived in poverty that stemmed from alcohol abuse of the father. The mother appealed for help from a leading family in the community church. She was refused help on the grounds that alcoholism was a sin, and one mustn't aid and abet sin.
