To "think outside the box"...
Illustration
Object:
To "think outside the box" is to be open to new ideas, free from tradition and routine and the way we've always done things. All of our thinking, however, does in fact take place within a real, literal box. The box that contains our thinking is a little smaller than a coffee can and is made of bone. It's called a cranium. Within that bony box, each of us has about three pounds of blood vessels and nerve endings with which to interpret the universe. The problem is that the universe doesn't fit. God doesn't fit. God is too big to fit into our brains.
Faith is the one way to think outside the box. Faith does not rely on our reason or understanding. It does not depend on our experience or imagination, but connects directly to the God who lives outside of our skulls.
