Those of us who love...

Those of us who love music can easily understand its positive effects upon the evil nature of Saul when young David played the lyre for him. In the 17th century, William Congreve wrote, "Music hath charms to sooth a savage breast, to soften rock, or bend a knotted oak." And 200 years later, Thomas Carlyle must have had similar feelings when he wrote, "Who is there that, in logical words, can express the effect music has on us? A kind of inarticulate unfathomable speech, which leads us to the edge of the Infinite, and lets us for moments gaze into that!"
