We know that it is...

We know that it is a universal human experience to deny death. Hospital chaplains, therapists, pastors and families can testify to the fact that normally people greet the medical prognosis that death is imminent with denial. Soldiers report that they cover their universal fear of death with small talk. In Tom Stoppand's play, Rosenkrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead, Rosenkrantz observes that it must have been a shattering moment for each of us when it became clear to us that we are not going to live forever. It must have been a difficult moment, but probably most of us cannot recall it.
