We live in a day...
Illustration
We live in a day when even our friendliness and cordiality is highly structured. If it's not by appointment we hardly consider showing hospitality anymore.
Whatever happened to the old-fashioned practice of the pop-in-visit? Hardly anyone makes them anymore, and few receive such spur-of-the-moment visits, even though perhaps most of us would like to! Our planned, isolated, and insulated living sets patterns that bar us from the exhilaration of impulsive cordiality. In the process we miss the joy of spontaneous human interchange.
