We owe Luke a great debt for his emphasis on the world-significance of the Gospel. While other writers confined their concept of God's plan of salvation to the chosen people of Israel, Luke visualized the entire world as the setting on which to stage the coming of Christ into the human experience. His careful historical approach gives us the whole background panorama -- kings, governments, principalities, powers.
