We will never forget that...

We will never forget that Maundy Thursday Communion service in the candlelit sanctuary. The ushers brought the people up to the altar rail for kneeling, group by group.
There were three women named "Virginia" that night, each a member of our church family. The first one held the arm of the usher all the way to the railing. She was sightless. Friends had just finished building a home for her and her husband. She knelt with a radiant smile and received the Sacrament at the invitation of the Lord.
The second one walked slowly to the chancel. Her neck in a brace from the automobile accident, she carefully knelt and received the elements prayerfully, gratefully. How thankful she was that she was alive and able to be with us that night! How thankful we all were!
The third Virginia walked with tears. It was hard, so hard for her because husband had just been buried three days earlier. A lifelong Christian, she had a faith that would sustain her. There she was, kneeling for the Sacrament.
Whatever our condition or situation, need or hope, we kneel for the blessing of our Savior and receive the Sacrament.
