What does it mean to...

What does it mean to "shepherd" the "sheep" of a congregation? A Baptist congregation in Hammond, Indiana, thought it had an idea to gather in the flock from every direction. On a December day in 1972, the church counted a record attendance of 12,350 worshippers.
The church employed a fleet of 68 buses, gathering in people from a 50-mile radius, to celebrate what the church called "Heaven Sunday." The program, as advertised, featured an expert in karate, a former football hero, a former Hollywood stunt cowboy, Santa Claus, a rodeo star, a ventriloquist and Carl McIntire, an organist with neither arms nor legs.
Now, I wonder how many "sheep" were really fed that day.
