When I was growing up...

When I was growing up in Pueblo, Colorado, there was a family nearby who had 14 children. We had only three in our family so it was great fun to imagine how many chores we could spread around if there were 28 hands instead of just six.
In reality our family was not very close and we fussed all the time about having to do chores. We didn't do them most of the time and Mom picked up the slack. If we ever got in trouble, Mom would threaten to send us over to the family with 14 kids. That usually straightened us up.
