A woman was begging the parole board to release her husband from prison. The parole board's chairperson said, "Madame, rustling cattle is a serious offense. But tell us, was your husband a good husband?"
"No," said the woman, "he never showed much love or affection."
"Well," said the chairperson, "before his crime was he a productive member of society?"
"No," said the woman, "he was never able to hold down or job or do much volunteer work."
"I see," said the chairperson, "but tell us, was he at least a good father to your children?"
"No," said the woman, "all he ever did was beat them."
"Tell us," said the chairperson, "why would you ask us to parole a man like him?"
"Well," said the woman, "we are running out of beef."
"No," said the woman, "he never showed much love or affection."
