Years ago when our children were very small they would often ask us to tell them a story at bedtime. Once in a while the old familiar stories got dull. So I would make up a story about a little boy. Then I would simply retell the day's events that our son had lived. I would start with getting up, thinking of all that could be done: school, learning, play, friends, playing with the family dog, getting cleaned up for supper.
