Yellow ribbons tied on doors...
Illustration
Yellow ribbons tied on doors of houses, trees, cars, buses. Patriotic shirts and hats and people singing the Star Spangled Banner. These are the visible ways in which people have expressed themselves during and following Desert Storm. There is a country-western song which was very popular a few years ago and became popular again. One of the most memorable lines is, "I'm proud to be an American, cause at least I know I'm free." While the sentiment is okay, the fact is that boasting of our military conquest in the Middle East had a very ugly tune to it.
