You might say that Dave came "kicking and screaming" to love people ... or at least begrudgingly. His wife had worked at the local soup kitchen one day a month for years. Dave's comment was the same each time she asked him to go with her. "Why don't they get a job like the rest of us? You are being used by them every time you go there."

One day Pat was down with the flu when she was supposed to work at the kitchen. Dave, trying to be a good husband, asked her if there was anything he could do for her to make her feel better.
