You might think that growing fruit or vegetables in the Florida Keys would be relatively easy. After all, there is plenty of sun, a long growing season, and no shortage of moisture. Yet, the Keys' climate poses its own problems for those wanting to grow fruits or vegetables. High winds can damage young plants and blow off blooms and fruit from mature plants. Salt intrusion in the soil and salt blown on the wind is a major problem.
