You've heard of school spirit, haven't you? Especially in high school. The student body gets together and they are infused with the hopes and dreams of their team's past wins and confidences of future wins. The team receives the enthusiasm and motivation to go on and be better and stronger and greater than before. Each senses something outside of themselves adding to the event.

In that sense of the word the disciples received something outside themselves at Pentecost. THE POWER of the Holy Spirit became new to them.
