Even God Has Some Regrets, Apparently
In the lectionary epistle text for Proper 6 (2 Corinthians 5:6-17), Paul addresses the attitude we ought to have in light of the coming dies irae -- that day of judgment when all will come before God and "receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil" (v. 10). As team member Mary Austin points out in this installment of The Immediate Word, many of us dread the thought of reaping the consequences of our actions. Even in this life, we try to avoid being held to account for our sins of comission and omission as long as humanly possible.
