Call To Worship
Leader: Come, let all who worship the Lord gather to sing and hear the Word!
People: But our days have been hard and our spirits are near broken.
Leader: But the Lord God Almighty will deliver and keep you as God's own.
People: But times have been so hard, as though God has forgotten us.
Leader: Fear not, for the Lord your God is come and God's kingdom is at hand.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, in all of these times when life is so difficult, help us to remember Your promise always to be with us and to be our strength whenever we will walk in the ways of Your leading. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, so often when life has been hard and situations have seemed impossible, we have turned away from the hope You would give us and chosen instead despair and sorrow. Too often, Lord, if things were unlikely by the world's standards, we would not believe. Forgive us, Lord, and help us always to lean on Your wisdom and strength as our hope. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Ring The Bells"
"I Know Whom I Have Believed"
"Grace That Is Greater Than All Our Sin"
Second Sunday After Christmas
Second Lesson: Ephesians 1:3-14
Theme: The New Covenant
Call To Worship
Leader: Let any who would know the living Christ come and worship this day!
People: But may we as sinners enter into the house of the Lord?
Leader: In the Blood of Christ came the New Covenant. Even sinners may enter!
People: But how can sinners enter into the house of Almighty God?
Leader: In Christ, God has washed away our sin and made us each one clean.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, in Christ You have given us a New Covenant, calling to us to come home just as the Good Shepherd lovingly calls in the sheep. Give us the wisdom to follow You, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
God, so often we have sought to earn Your mercy and grace and have refused to accept them as the gifts of love You intend them to be. So often in our pride we will not receive that which we have not earned. Forgive us, Lord, and help us to understand we must freely accept Your gifts in order that we might freely share them and pass them on to others. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"I Will Sing The Wondrous Story"
"Sing We Now Of Christmas"
"Freely, Freely"
Second Sunday After Christmas
Gospel: John 1:(1-9) 10-18
Theme: The Word dwelt among us
Call To Worship
Leader: Come, all who would bear witness of the Word, let us worship!
People: For the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us; Jesus was the Word.
Leader: And in Christ we were made whole and brought in the presence of God.
People: For the witness of Christ was of God, that all should know the Lord.
Leader: So let us lift our voices in song and praise, for God so loved us all.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, through the giving of the Word become flesh in Christ, You have spoken to us of unlimited accepting love. Help us to have the courage to receive Your gift and share it. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, sometimes we are so overwhelmed by the universe we are willing to believe You are so incomprehensible we would never be able to know You. Forgive us, Lord, when we refuse to see that You loved and wanted to know us so much You sent Jesus, that we might hear and accept Your Word. Open our eyes to Your love, Lord, that we might walk with You daily. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"That Boy-Child Of Mary"
"Blessed Assurance"
"O Come And Dwell In Me"
