Be Still
Children's sermon

Children's Sermons
Object:
No materials are required; however, you may use several items that are capable of making loud noises such as a whistle, drum, and so forth.
Message: What are some of the noisiest places you can think of? What are the places you have been where there is just so much noise you can hardly stand it? (Allow children to share answers which might include an airport, a carnival, a sports event, and so forth.)
Let's say you are riding down the highway in your car on a hot day with the windows open, when all of a sudden a huge truck comes up right next to you and the noise is so loud you can't even talk to each other. What would you do to get rid of the noise? Of course, roll up the windows!
Or let's say you are doing your homework on the kitchen table and your brothers and sisters are playing all around you and the television is blaring and you can't concentrate. What would you do to gain more quiet in that case? Probably go to your room and close the door.
Or even right now, if you decided you didn't want to hear anything, what would you do? You could cover your ears and block out everything that is happening.
Sometimes we need to get away from the noises and activities of life. And that is not only true physically to keep things in balance, it is also true spiritually as well. In the Psalms God says: "Be still and know that I am God." Hearing God means we need to take time to listen to Him. When we are quiet and still before Him, then He can remind us of how great His love and care for us really are.
