Sermon
Wedding Sermons And Marriage Ceremonies
Pastor: The world we live in changes constantly; governments rise and fall; institutions expand and falter. Marriage remains one of the stabilizing foundations in the world. It delivers joy and excitement in a desperately lonely world. When Adam was alone in the ancient garden, God knew that man needed someone with whom to develop a relationship, so Eve became the companion for Adam. God took the initiative in the formation of marriage because of the need for a deep supportive relationship between a man and a woman. Since that first union of love, millions of people have sought love, acceptance, and companionship in the relationship we call marriage.
Today, we are witnesses to a very private moment in the lives of (Groom) and (Bride), as we celebrate publicly this union with thanksgiving.
Who gives this woman to be married to this man?
Father: Her mother and I, who gave her life and grace. We stamped our image upon her life by carving ideas, thoughts, philosophy, and spirit into her heart. When she was a child we calmed her fears, bandaged her knees, and kissed her hurts. She sat on our laps and we read her favorite books. Today we share her with the man she loves, (Groom), because we love her so.
Pastor: (Bride) and (Groom), if you desire for your new relationship to be a thing of beauty, allow God to make your home a place of repair and a harbor of security. Always believe in the ideal in each other. Follow God's divine principle of love.

Pastor: As the bride gives herself to the bridegroom, let him be to her a most sacred husband. As the groom gives himself to the bride, let her be to him a most sacred wife.
Will you exchange vows with each other?
Couple: We will.
Groom: (Bride), I pledge to you my undying love and faith. I promise to respect you. I dedicate my time, talent, and treasures to you. I give myself fully as husband to discover joy and pleasure with you. God took special care crafting you for me, and I will treasure you for the rest of my life.

Pastor: Let us pray... (Prays extemporaneously, followed by "The Lord's Prayer" in song)
Pastor: Do you have rings for a pledge or promise?
Couple: We do.
Pastor: (Groom), look into (Bride's) eyes and place your ring of promise on her finger as you repeat after me.
Pastor (Groom Repeats): I, (Groom), take you, (Bride), to be my life's companion. This ring is my promise that you will always be in my heart, and I will cherish and honor you all the days of my life.
Bride: I accept this ring from you, (Groom), as a pledge of promised love.

Pastor: (Groom) and (Bride), you may each take a candle to symbolize your individual lives. Use these candles to light the center candle as a symbol of your new lives of unity starting today. A family does not eliminate separate individuality, but enhances and enriches this most intimate relationship.

Pastor: (Bride) and (Groom), your love has brought you to this sanctuary, and God has blessed this day. Since you have exchanged vows and rings, I pronounce you husband and wife by the authority of (Church) and the state of (State). What God has joined together let no one put asunder. (Groom), you may now kiss your bride.
Ladies and gentlemen it is my pleasure to introduce to you for the very first time, (First Name) and (First Name) (Last Name).
