It was a scene that will remain vividly in my memory for many years. We had arrived in Tel Aviv in the morning rain and, after clearing customs, made our way by bus to the historical ruins of Caesarea by the sea. Weary from our transatlantic flight, most of us gained a new exhilaration as we climbed into the restored amphitheater and looked westward across the Mediterranean.
