Lectionary Worship Workbook
Series III, Cycle A
Object:
Gathering Litany
P: O God, who created our world with a single word,
C: shine on us this day.
P: O God, who created our lives with a single word,
C: shine on us this day.
P: O God, who gave us the power to believe with a single word,
C: make us your children. Amen.
Prayer Of The Day
P: Gather us in, ever-living God. Gather us in and fill our hearts with your joyous dance, that, breaking all known human boundaries, we might forever sing your glorious praise through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
C: Amen.
Offertory Prayer
A: You have shown your heart to us, O God, and now we show you ours. May your grace and truth make each person new, that in our everyday actions and decisions your light would shine in the name of the one who shines for all the world to see, Jesus Christ our Lord.
C: Amen.
Eucharistic Prayer
As an option, the congregation may sing the response, such as WOV 637.
P: The Lord be with you.
C: And also with you.
P: Lift up your hearts.
C: We lift them up to the Lord.
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
C: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
P: God of all people,
your goodness and beauty come to us
like the first-fallen snow.
Your infant smile refreshes us
like sunlight glistening through winter's branches.
The whole creation waits for your breath to give it life.
C: Glory to God in the highest!
P: We give you thanks
that shattering all darkness,
your Word beyond time came to us,
that we, too, would be born of you.
C: Glory to God in the highest!
P: This Word lived among us,
and gathering us to your heart,
he took bread and gave thanks,
broke it, and gave it to us to eat saying,
"This is my body given for you.
Do this for the remembrance of me."
C: Glory to God in the highest!
P: Again after supper he took the cup,
gave thanks, and gave to all to drink saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin.
Do this for the remembrance of me."
C: Glory to God in the highest!
P: Living in the promise of the Holy Spirit
we call again for you to come,
that believing in your name,
we would live as your holy children.
C: Glory to God in the highest!
P: No one has ever seen God.
(elevate elements now)
It is God, the only Son,
who is close to the Father's heart
who has made him known.
C: Glory to God in the highest
and peace to his people on earth!
Sending
A: With all wisdom and insight,
God has made known to us the mystery of the divine will.
P: Now may you live according to God's good pleasure.
C: Thanks be to God!
