Gerald Kennedy reported that he was at an African Annual
Conference to preach, when his host, the bishop, told him a story
about a woman who had come through there shortly before. She was
a worker with what was then the Women's Society of Christian
Service, and had recently received her Ph.D. He said she was
indeed a very bright young woman and was to preach in this same
pulpit. An African, who knew fairly good English, was to be her
interpreter.
She began that morning by saying, "I want to talk this morning
