Cracked Cisterns

Call To Worship
Now what good is a cracked cistern? More than worthless, it endangers the lives of those who depend upon it to hold water in a dry land. Waste no time or energy filling a cracked cistern with water.
Now what good is a car with a hole in its gas tank? And what good is a sack of beans with an open floor seam?
Collect
We pray for direction, O God, to lead us into fruitful ways of living. We ask for the will to turn away from doing that which leads only to loss. We seek guidance so we might preserve what is too costly to misuse. In the name of Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Forgive us, God, when we fail to treasure what you provide. Forgive the carelessness that leads to waste. Guide our wisdom as we attempt to spend our energy on life-giving efforts. Amen.

Prayer Of Confession
Dear God, when we try to forget for a while about the cares of others, remind us that there is more to life than ourselves.
