A popular announcer told the story on a radio broadcast about a little girl who told her parents she wanted a bunny rabbit for her birthday. Her father said, "Hell will have to freeze over before I will let you have a rabbit."
But the child was optimistic about it all. When cold weather came she would ask every morning if it was cold enough for Hell to freeze over. Her mother told her not to expect too much.
But one morning the child heard a weather broadcaster on a Detroit, Michigan, radio station tell how cold it had been the night before. He said, "Hell froze over last night!"
The little girl was ecstatic, and ran to tell her father what had been announced on the radio report. "Hell froze over last night!"
The child got her rabbit the next day.
(Hell is the name of a town in Michigan.)
