Pastoral Prayers For All Seasons
Our God, if we had been at the empty grave with Peter and John on that Sunday of Sundays, how would we have reacted? Would we have believed immediately that Christ had risen from the dead? Or, like some of the persons of the first century, would we have waited until we had further evidence before speculating on his resurrection? If Jesus would come to us as he did to Mary Magdalene, would we be swept up by surprise -- and then unbelievable joy?
