Lectionary Worship Workbook
Series III, Cycle A
Object:
Gathering Chant
Divide the congregation into three parts: men's voices, women's and children's voices, and choir. Begin with a steady drumbeat of quarter notes, then add men's voices ("come and see"), then women's and children's ("water, water"), and when those are firmly established add the choir ("spirit"). Using hand gestures the pastor can change the volume and intensity of this spoken chant, building to a crescendo and tapering off to a whisper, until the drum ends as it began.

Prayer Of The Day
P: O God our Father, you sent your son, the holy Lamb of God, to lead us into eternal life. Open our eyes to see your great love poured out for us through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, through all ages of ages.
C: Amen.
Intercessory Prayers
P: Hear the cries of your people in every time and place, that your faithfulness might be known and your grace abound.
After each petition:
L: God of all mercy,
C: may your grace abound.
After all the petitions:
P: God will also strengthen you to the end,
so that you may be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God is faithful,
by whom you were called into the communion of the Son of God, Jesus Christ our Lord.
C: Amen.
Offertory Prayer
C: O Lord, you are our teacher, our comforter, our friend. We lift our lives to you in praise and in thanksgiving, and offer these gifts as signs of trust, that our future is in your hands. We pray in the name of the one who gave himself for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Eucharistic Prayer
P: The Lord be with you.
C: And also with you.
P: Lift up your hearts.
C: We lift them up to the Lord.
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
C: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
P: It is indeed right and salutary ...
... we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
C: Holy, holy, holy ...
P: Blessed are you, O Lord, our God,
Ruler of the universe.
You set the sun, moon, and stars in their courses.
You formed humankind in your image,
and despite our rebellion
you sought us in love.
In the night
in which he was betrayed
our Lord Jesus took bread,
and gave thanks, broke it,
and gave it to his disciples,
saying: "Take and eat;
this is my body, given for you.
Do this for the remembrance of me."
Again, after supper,
he took the cup, gave thanks,
and gave it for all to drink,
saying: "This cup is
the new covenant in my blood,
shed for you and for all people
for the forgiveness of sin.
Do this for the remembrance of me."
For as often as we eat
of this bread
and drink from this cup,
we proclaim the Lord's death
until he comes.
C: Christ has died. Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
P: You sent your servant, Jesus, as a light
to the nations,
that your salvation would reach
to the ends of the earth.
We lift our hearts to you
as we long for his fullness
to be revealed.
C: Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
P: Send your Spirit upon these
gifts and upon our lives
that through your love
our world would be made new.
C: Amen. Come, Holy Spirit.
P: Join our prayers
with those of your faithful people
in every generation
and unite them with the unending prayers
of our Lord until he comes in glory.
C: Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all honor and glory are yours, almighty Father,
now and forever. Amen.
Benediction
P: May God's faithfulness surround you and his mercy lead you,
that filled with the Spirit of the living God,
you may venture into worlds as yet unknown,
and discover again his love.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.

If you choose LBW 511 using TALLIS' CANON, have the choir sing the two middle verses in four part canon, with the congregation joining in again for the final verse.
Divide the congregation into three parts: men's voices, women's and children's voices, and choir. Begin with a steady drumbeat of quarter notes, then add men's voices ("come and see"), then women's and children's ("water, water"), and when those are firmly established add the choir ("spirit").
