Fifth Sunday Of Easter
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
Second Lesson: Revelation 21:1-6
Theme: It's About Time
Call To Worship
See, people of God, the new heaven and the new earth, begging to burst through that which we imagine to be solid and enduring. Ignore illusions today and set your hearts and minds upon God's great destiny that we are to share.
Collect
God of glory, we praise you for the glory we see all around us as we gather together for worship. Send your Spirit to dwell among us in our praying, in our praising, in our raising of song. Send us the peace that passes understanding, and the joy that sustains us in all circumstances. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
At the round earth's imagined corners, blow
Your trumpets, Angels, and arise, arise
From death, you numberless infinities
Of souls, and to your scattered bodies go,
All whom the flood did, and fire shall o'erthrow,
All whom war, dearth, age, agues, tyrannies,
Despair, law, chance, hath slain, and you whose eyes
Shall behold God, and never taste death's woe.
But let them sleep, Lord, and me mourn a space
For, if above all these my sins abound
'Tis late to ask abundance of thy grace
When we are there; here on this lowly ground
Teach me how to repent, for that's as good
As if thou hadst seal'd my pardon, with my blood.
