Fourth Sunday After Epiphany
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Life Under The Reign Of God
Call To Worship
"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." Open your eyes and see the surprising love of God. Open your ears and hear the startling news of Jesus Christ. Open your hearts and sing the praises of the Lord.
Invocation
As citizens of Galilee gathered on a grassy hillside to hear the teachings of Jesus, so we have gathered to hear the words of life. Our setting may be much more formal, our clothing a different style, and we have hymnals, Bibles, and musical instruments; but our human needs are the same. Speak to our hearts, Lord, and bring us into your presence so that we, too, may learn the secrets of genuine living. Amen.
Confession
We know, Father, that those who feel no guilt cannot be forgiven, that those who feel no need cannot be filled. Therefore, we come into your presence today with humble hearts and open hands, asking that you will first pardon us by your grace, and then bless us with your presence. Through Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O Heavenly Father, as the gift of your Son has inspired our gifts, may our giving in turn motivate others to give of themselves, thus inspiring an ever-widening circle of love and concern. Amen.
Hymns
"Take Time To Be Holy"
"Come, Thou Fount Of Every Blessing"
"A Charge To Keep I Have"
