How Pleasant To Be In God's Presence
Worship
Lectionary Hymns for Cycle B
New Hymns for the Church Year Calendar with Old Familiar Tunes
Object:
1. How pleasant to be in God’s presence at prayer!
How lovely to worship, freed from every care!
My soul longs, indeed, for the courts of the Lord.
Joy springs from my heart in the house of our God.
2. The sparrow and swallow find space for their young
At God’s altar, nesting, where life was begun.
Oh, happy the creatures in God’s vast domain,
Who know their Creator and with him remain.
3. Oh, happy are all in the Lord, finding strength;
Refreshed at God’s springs, they shall never grow faint.
Behold God’s anointed, against our dread foe,
Our blessed Redeemer, with us as we go.
4. Stir up your full might, Lord, oh, come now to save.
Bring light to our darkness; make hearts to be brave.
Your light on our pathway shall keep our faith strong
To follow you always, while others may scorn.
5. O Lord, hear our prayer and our song of delight.
You favour and honour us, great God of might.
Oh, happy the people who trust in the Lord;
Our sun and shield with us, God ever adored.
Proper 16/Pentecost 14/Ordinary Time 21
Based on Psalm 84
May be sung to ST. DENIO, 11 11.11 11
