Sometimes, Leon, my thoughts wander back to my childhood days when our family lived in a northern Illinois rural community. My father was the pastor of a village church to which the overwhelming majority of the residents of the community belonged. Nearly everyone knew one another, helped each other out when there was trouble, gathered together for community festivities, and on basic issues were more or less of one mind.
