Herbert Hoover was a poor boy working his way through Stanford University in California. One year, as chairman of a lecture and concert committee, he engaged the famous concert pianist Paderewski for a concert for a sum of money. Due to bad weather they did not take in enough money to pay the guest musician, but he generously said, "Don't worry about it."
