One of the gifts my wife Bonnie and I gave each other this Christmas is an antique clock. It's a gingerbread style clock about a hundred years old. It has a handsome oak case with elaborate carving and delicate gold maple leaves painted on the etched glass plate across the front. Its pendulum ticks off the seconds. The clock chimes the hours and half-hours. It's charming and quite different from the digital clocks in the house. It was fun to learn about the old clock's history, how to set it up, wind it, and adjust it.
