Pantomime "Jesus And The Children" while it is being read. Characters are Jesus, disciples, parents, and children. Assign children to these parts. Do the italicized motions:
As the children walked along the way, they saw the flowers blooming, the birds singing, and Jesus on the hill. Some began to run. Some skipped. Some walked slowly beside their mothers and fathers. When they reached the hill, they saw many people, but they could not see Jesus because there were too many people. They stood on their tiptoes. They made themselves small and squeezed through the crowd. But Jesus' friends stopped them, saying, "Jesus is too busy." The children were sad. They stopped and turned around. Then they heard him say, "Let the children come to me!" The children ran to Jesus and began to sing.
Talk together: Ask the "children": How did you feel when the disciples stopped you?
Ask the "parents": How did you feel when the disciples stopped your children?
Ask the "disciples": How did you feel when Jesus reversed your actions?
Ask "Jesus": How did you feel when the disciples said you were too busy to see children?
Follow through with "Why?"
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for loving us, and for people who protect and guide us. Be with us always. Amen.
