Call To Worship
Leader: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
People: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits.
Leader: The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
People: He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
Collect
O God, thank you for your love which enfolds us, restores us, and enables us to face the most difficult of life's situations. Speak to each one of us in this time of worship so that we may speak your message of loving acceptance and encouragement to others. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Merciful Father, we know that you are full of constant love for us, that you do not punish us as we deserve, or repay us according to our wrongs. We come this morning to claim your forgiveness and ask that through the power of your Spirit we may faithfully obey your commands. Amen.
Hymns

"How Can We Name A Love?"
Eighth Sunday After Epiphany
Second Lesson: 2 Corinthians 3:1-6

Call To Worship
Let us come before the Lord with open hearts and open minds that the Spirit which gives life may take hold of us and create in us clean hearts and minds ready to do God's will.
Collect
O God, we know that of ourselves we are not capable of carrying out the vision you have for us. We come this morning to give you thanks for your many blessings, and also to seek the direction of your Spirit, as well as the power to carry out your mission. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O Spirit of the Living God, you have written your message of love and forgiveness on our hearts, but our actions have so blurred your words that they are illegible to those who need them most. Forgive us, Lord, and empower us that we may truly be your witnesses in both word and deed. Amen.
Hymns
"Holy Spirit, Truth Divine"
"Spirit Of God, Descend Upon My Heart"
Eighth Sunday After Epiphany
Gospel Lesson: Mark 2:13-22
Theme: New Beginning
Call To Worship
When Jesus calls us to follow him, and we rise from our old ways and follow the Master, we often try to squeeze his ways and his call into our old patterns, prejudices, and presumptions. We come this morning to listen once again to Jesus' call, and to commit ourselves to leaving our old ways behind as we accept the new life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Collect
O God, we know that through your Son, Jesus Christ, you came to show us that your love embraces all humankind, and that our worship must be more than mere ritual. We come this morning to open our hearts and minds to you that we may be led by your Spirit, and go forth from this holy place to demonstrate your love to all who are considered outcasts by society. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, people don't ask why it is that we associate with sinners and outcasts because we are very careful about the company we keep. In our Christian fellowship practically everyone is just like us. Forgive us our prejudices. Increase our understanding of what it means that your love extends to everyone, and helps us to show forth your love especially to those who are different from us. Amen.
Hymns
"This Is A Day Of New Beginnings"
"Have Thine Own Way, Lord"
