One day Sarah was sitting beside the window, looking out at the rain falling. Sarah was five and alive with curiosity, filled with questions and answers. "Rain is ..." Sarah said to her mother and brother, but then lost her words. "Mom, what are those runny, wet things from your eyes?"
Her mother replied, "Tears?"
"Yes. Rain is God's tears." Because it had been raining for four days, Sarah added, "This must be a sad month."
Sarah's brother, Charles, was seven. Listening, he said, "Sarah, I'm not sure rain is God's tears."
