Is a wife worth waiting for or worth working for? Jacob put in a total of fourteen years working for his uncle Laban because he was in love with Laban's daughter, Rachel, and he felt she was indeed worth waiting for and worth working for. The original bargain was that Jacob would work a total of seven years and be rewarded by getting Rachel to be his wife. However, Laban had other ideas: he wanted to get his older daughter Leah married off first.
