LECTIONARY WORSHIP AIDS
Series III
* CALL TO WORSHIP
Believers/Priests, you are clothed with the garments of
salvation. Shout for joy, you loyal servants of the heavenly
realm.
* PRAYER OF CONFESSION
How dangerous is the pride in which we attempt to compare our
greatness to yours, O God! What lineage, however honorable, can
be traced with confidence in your eternity? What national
history or personal history, deserves to be mentioned in
connection with the history of your saving acts? Forgive the
haughtiness that accompanies our pride of race, or place, or
person. Only by your grace are we received into the heavenly
realms, through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
* DECLARATION OF GOD'S FORGIVENESS
Hear the Good News! In Christ our release is secured and our
sins are forgiven through the shedding of his blood. Friends,
believe the Good News! In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
* EXHORTATION
Live for the praise of God's glory.
* PRAYER OF THE DAY
Lord of all being, we would offer all our artistic gifts to you
rather than to any human authority, giving praise to you for all
the beauty of creation by our own creativity however modest in
comparison to yours; through Jesus Christ our redeemer. Amen.
* PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Parenting God, Adopter of children, Unifying Spirit, how can we
evaluate the richness of your grace lavished on us in Jesus
Christ? How can we estimate the treasure of wisdom and insight
that you have graciously given us, disclosing the long-hidden
purposes of your intention to unify all things in the universe in
our Lord Jesus Christ? We can only praise you to the limits of
our vocabulary. We can adore you to the full capacity of our
loving. We can dedicate our lives to you in daily obedience to
your direction. All glory be given to you, O God. Amen.
* PRAYER OF DEDICATION
Purposeful God, you honor us by including us in your plans for
the universe. Receive our offerings and our promised willingness
to fit into the place you have for us in the completion of your
grand design in Jesus Christ. Amen.
* PSALM 24:1-10
The earth is the LORD's and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
for he has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.
Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false,
and do not swear deceitfully.
They will receive blessing from the LORD,
and vindication from the God of their salvation.
Such is the company of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is the King of glory?
The LORD, strong and mighty,
the LORD, mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of hosts,
he is the King of glory.
