Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
First Lesson: Hosea 11:1-11
Theme: All My Compassion Is Aroused
Call To Worship
One: Blessed be God, who confers the task of ministry on each of us.
All: Blessed be God, who confers the task of ministry on all of us.
One: Let us gladly accept the gift of ministry which is ours.
All: Let us even more gladly accept the gift of this church, as we jointly share in worship, praise, prayer, and the ministry of the eternal gospel.
Collect
We knew, God of compassion, that you would never forget us. We praise you in your waiting patiently for our repentance and return to you. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, help us to hear more than the words spoken by our sisters and brothers, their concerns and joys shared aloud. Help us to look into our hearts for those concerns and joys too deep for words. We lift in prayer this morning all caregivers and those for whom they care. We remember those who bear a great burden of physical or emotional pain. We call to mind those whose suffering is mental. We recall the ones who have left this life behind, as well as those who may still mourn for them. We celebrate with those who have experienced joy. We laugh with those who rejoice, and sing with those moved by the Spirit. Bless us as we seek to share each other's burdens and pray each other's prayers. Amen.
Hymns
