Words Of Assurance
Now hear the Good News: Christ Jesus comes into this world to save sinners. That means he forgives our failures, he loves us as we are, and he offers us the freedom to live in him. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer
Infinite God, our Father, we thank you that, in an age so filled with anxieties, fears, and mistrust, we may witness to those eternal truths that are central to our Protestant heritage and faith. We express our thankfulness for the traditions and deeper meanings at the heart of the Reformation, and for the freedom that makes it possible for us to give expression to them.
Teach us to love one another. May we see the good in every person. We know that in your sight there are no racial differences and that every person of every race is a beloved child of yours. Forgive us for the barriers we have erected that separate us one from another. Bring us closer together in unity, understanding, and love. Then, our Father, may we be forgiven for the hurts we have inflicted on others, as we forgive the hurts that have been ours.
Bless us, our Father, as we witness to the faith that is in us, a faith that sets us free as it binds us to you. Accept our Protestant witness growing out of a biblical faith related to you, to Christ, and to our brothers and sisters. Send us forth from the worship of this day committed to serve you more fully, as Christian workers, functioning effectively in the life of our church, community, and world. We ask this in the spirit of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Benediction
Those who obey God's Word will be truly free, and will be blessed in all they do. Go in peace, and the blessing of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit go with you. Amen.
