Second Sunday In Lent
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Victory Through Faith
Call To Worship
Leader: Come, let us give praise to the Lord.
People: We come, for God has given us life, and in him we live and move and have our being.
Leader: Come, let us raise our songs to the Lord God Almighty.
People: We come, for he has redeemed us from despair and has given us a high calling through Jesus his Son.
Invocation
We thank you, O God, for the light which wakes us morning by morning; for the light of learning which brings knowledge; but most of all we thank you for the divine light which is reflected in the face of Jesus Christ and which enlightens our lives by the Holy Spirit. Strengthen our faith, we pray, that we may claim the promises made to your people, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession
O Merciful Father, who in compassion for your sinful children sent your Son Jesus Christ to be the Savior of the world, grant us grace to feel and lament our share of the evil which made it needful for him to suffer and die for our salvation. Help us by self-denial, prayer, and meditation to prepare our hearts for deeper penitence and a better life. Give us a true longing to be free from sin through the deliverance wrought by Jesus Christ our only Redeemer. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Enable us, Lord, to express our true gratitude by the way we live as well as by the way we give; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hymns
"To God Be The Glory"
"Victory In Jesus"
"Faith Of Our Fathers"
