Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
Gospel Lesson: John 14:23-29
Theme: I Need A Hero
Call To Worship (Psalm 67)
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah, that your way may be known upon earth, your saving power among all nations. Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Selah Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, has blessed us. May God continue to bless us; let all the ends of the earth revere him.
Collect
Lord, you have served us in so many ways, beyond count, beyond measure, beyond knowledge. We strive to serve you, but you are perfect and self-sufficient, needing nothing. Your salvation is a free gift, and you ask nothing in return. In response, we pledge again to serve others, asking nothing in return, in imitation of your mercy and goodness. Be present with us this morning. Heal us as your people. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, hear our prayers. Hear our prayers as they were spoken, shared with the community of faith. Lord hear our prayers. Hear our prayers which were silently raised in the midst of the community, those things felt too deeply to be shared aloud, but in need of your intervention as surely as those petitions shared aloud. Lord, hear our prayers, hear those prayers which we have not yet raised to you, aloud or silently. Lord, we believe. Help our unbelief. Amen.
Hymns
Art Thou Wearied, Art Thou Troubled?
Peace, Perfect Peace
