Sixth Sunday Of Easter
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
First Lesson: Acts 16:9-15
Theme: A Dream For Salvation
Call To Worship
Come! We are called, not only by God, but by God's hurting people. Come! Let us worship the God of love in truth.
Collect
As you called the Apostle Paul to untold hardships and victory through a dream, so we hope to be called as well by any means you choose into service and ministry, through our time of worship together, and beyond. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Do you hear God calling? Does God call us away from comfort and toward ministry and service? Let us ignore God's call in worship and prayer, and seek to save ourselves alone. Let us hide within these four walls, and preserve ourselves away from adventure and calling, let us close our ears to the God who calls from the four corners of the globe, let us insulate ourselves from the world and wrap ourselves in our prejudices. Let us cling to easy answers and generalizations for the difficult problems God presents us, and let us fail to love our enemies and demonize those who disagree with us. Let us listen to those who call us to fear and who seek to confirm our ignorance and hopelessness, and who do this in the name of the God of love.
Who will say, "Amen," to this prayer?
(silence)
Who will, as Paul, listen to God calling far beyond our comfort zone instead?
Hymns
Lift Every Voice And Sing
