Pastoral Prayers For All Seasons
Today, O God, our words are heavy for we are mindful of the pain that resides within our lives. While for each the pain is different, it is the same in that it steals our energy, undermines our confidence, and robs us of the certainty of our faith. Whether intermittent or chronic, physical or emotional, pain tempts us to believe that you don't care for us, and for whatever reason have chosen to punish us. Sometimes we think we are getting our just desserts; other times we are angry that we are being treated so unfairly. You know we rarely speak of these deep, deep hurts with anyone.
