THE SONG AND THE STORY
The Cathedral of St. John Lateran in Rome, the principal if not the best-known church of Roman Catholicism, is a place that excites one's imagination. It is inextricably connected to the rise of Christianity in the West; it is not simply an edifice of architectural significance but a complex of buildings where history was made. Volumes of stories - some dramatically compelling and others rather revolting - could be, and have been, written about St. John Lateran.
